Student Election 2017
On the 21st August 2017, Mutiara Harapan held the Student Council Election. The candidates for this event are Joy, Deo, Jonathan, Sintya, and Indah. Each candidate gave their speech about their vision and mission as a chairman of OSIS. Deo’s vision was to speak English everyday and his mission was Togetherness Camp which is, the juniors and the seniors will talk English and the senior should teach their juniors to speak English. Another one is continuing the EFD (English Fun Day) event which is a competition in English. There are Debates, Spelling Bee, Spelling Tag, and Speech. After the election, Deo became the chairman, Joy became the vice-president, Sintya became the secretary, Jonathan and Indah became the councilors. The final scores are: Deo 51 votes, Joy 31 votes, Sintya 15 votes, Jonathan 10 votes, and Indah 2 votes. Everyone was looking forward to this pick.
A Day In Riau Pos
Date: 12th August 2017 Place: Riau Pos, Pekanbaru On 12th August our CLE team was having a field trip to Riau pos, Pekanbaru. It was meant to give more education about journalistic to the student. We went to Pekanbaru by the school bus, we arrived at Riau pos at 09:30 am. We met someone at the meeting room. His name is Mr.Helvizon Assyafei who is an editor on Sunday. There, he told about Riau Pos and journalist. We may ask him questions about journalistic, and he was answering it. In Riau Pos we met a journalist. He explained about journalist’s works. He explain to us, that journalist must have a creativity, responsibility, and time management. Because in Riau Pos, journalist must have 5 new informations in one day. Why do we need responsibility? Because if a journalist share a wrong information to public, they will be expelled. After going around the building. He explained about “How to make newspaper?”, and we went to a small where they make a newspaper. In the last time we took the last photo.
Independence Day
Finally, the day everyone has been waiting, 17th August 2017. Indonesian’s independence day. All people around Indonesia annually celebrate this special day. Mutiara Harapan School held a ceremony, at Rukan high school. It started at 7:30 in the morning. Most of the students come on time, but there were also some students who were late. It was very crowded at the start of the ceremony. Everyone was looking for their own class to stand on. Some people who join choir are looking for the their choir members and need to practice for at least one more time. People lifting chairs so the choir will have a place to stand and sit. At the ceremony the choir was the one that accompanied us to sing the national anthem. They were very good. Their performance was outstanding. But from a far distance you couldn’t hear any of their sound. Only the instrument was heard. The sound of the choir members can only be heard from a short distance. That makes the other student who did the ceremony confused, because they can only listen to the instrument. After the ceremony there are performances, art and music exhibition. There were very outstanding performance and there was one performance from the choir too. People were sitting in front of the stage they provide. This year activities are not as fun as last year. There was not much to see and do. Last year, there was drawing, photography, music and art exhibition and others. This year there was only art and music exhibition and some performances. But people keep thinking positive because it is eventually still our independence day where all Indonesian people should be happy because we are free from the colonialism. People all gave a happy and smiling face. Although there was not much to do and see, but student and teachers still enjoy it. The situation was very crowded inside the school and outside. Everything go as planned. A sunny day, celebrating Independence Day. Then suddenly it all change. A stormy rain rushes and wet our uniform. Then every instrument as well as people rush running inside the school. The performance continued inside and it become worst then ever. But we still had fun and enjoy it. People take advantage because of this rain. People sell hot meatballs and hot chocolate. They think that many people will buy, since it’s raining. They were correct many people just to get hot meatballs and hot chocolate. It became an unusual Independence day. Just because it rains, the performance are not much and there was not much to do and see, this is still a memorable independence day that people wouldn’t forget because it’s a unique, bad, fun, weird independence day celebration.
Sport day 2k17
On October 6th, Mutiara Harapan School held the Sports Day event. All of the students and teachers were divided into 4 groups. There were Red (Manager: Mr. Bosman), Yellow (Manager: Ms. Fauziah), Blue (Manager: Mr. Septian), and Green (Manager: Ms. Eide). The event started with a parade from the school to Sports Center. After all the team reached Sport Center, each team had a basecamp for them to rest and put all their belongings. Then, the event was started by yell-yell by each team followed by mass dance titled “Dance Again”. It was an amazing dance made by the students, teachers, and also of course the parents. After that, the students speak the “Oath Of Sportsmanship” lead by Raja. There are many kinds of games that the students play like Futsal, Tug of War, Sprint, etc. After an exhausting activities, the moment for all the students and teachers waiting for, THE WINNER OF SPORTS DAY 2017. So, the winner for Sports Day 2017 is RED TEAM (Managed by Mr. Bosman)! Followed by Yellow and Green team and last Blue. It was the most exciting event we ever had even though, we didn’t won we still enjoy the game.
Awarding Ceremony
On 6th September 2017, RAPP hold a program called Awarding Ceremony. This event was meant for students who got achievements academic or non-academic throughout the school year. They were then gifted from the company because of their achievement. There are 3 schools that joined the event. They are Mutiara Harapan, Global Andalan, and Taruna Andalan. In addition to the ceremony, there is a choir team who sang each school's song and it was an absolute amazing performance by the choir team. It was a wonderful night for all.
Chinese New Year Assembly at Gedung Daerah
On Saturday, 3rd of March 2018, Chinese community in Kerinci held a Chinese New Year assembly to celebrate their Chinese New Year. They invited our school to show some performance. So, we showed them some fantastic performances. We showed 3 performances, like choir, dance, and gu-zheng performance. The gu-zheng player is Osmi from grade 7. After we did our presentations, they gave us angpao. Not only from our school, other people also showed their performances like Zapin, which is a Malay dance, and dance from children. Also, all of us were entertained by the dragon perfomormance. Some people also gave them an angpao. The celebration was so amazing! When we came to the assembly, they gave us foods and drinks which are delicious! The assembly started with the speech of Mr. Tukirin. There were also police who are guarding the assembly.
Chinese New Year Assembly
GONG XI FAT CAI XIN NIAN KUAI LE! The most waited day for all the people especially, the Chinese people to celebrate their New Year. On the 1st March of 2018, Sekolah Mutiara Harapan held the Chinese New Year event in the Basketball Court. The Basketball Court was filled with lantern, Ang Pao for the Lion Dance, and other red decorations. The event was opened by the lion dance, continued with presentations which were performed by the students like Choir by the Senior and Junior High School, 1000 Hands Dance by the Dance Club, Wushu by the boys from PYP and Junior High School, and the most creative performance which is Fashion Show for the Senior and Junior High School. This performance is unique and creative because, the students are the ones who make the clothes from recycle things like papers, sticks, newspaper, and others. It was something that is very interesting to be seen because, making clothes using recycle things is very complicated and need to have a vast imagination but, the students creates the best result and you won’t believe it when you see it. The 3rd winner is from Junior High which is Catherine, the 2nd winner is Kenny from grade 11, and the 1st winner is Dennis and Indy. The event was closed by the speech from Ms. Lei Suang and ended by the Lion Dance. It was such a great night and very wonderful event to be seen by all of the people.
Eid al-Fitr Celebration
Every year, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Fitr, Lebaran Day. The event is marked by the end of the month of Ramadan, the month of fasting. On this event people usually worship, give gifts, visit relatives or neighbors, going home, or ornate. This school too, each year Mutiara Harapan School also organizes religious events. This is one of them, it is called Eid Fitr Assembly. The event was held in Mutiara Harapan School on July 28, 2017. This years theme is ‘family strengthens the foundation of good islamic character’. Parents and student siblings were also invited, it made the event very crowded. In the event, there are various presentations delivered by the kindergarten class up to the 12th grade. Few of them deliver prayers, recite, dance, drama, fashion show, and others. Parents seem happy to see their child on stage. They cheer and clap their hands when the presentation starts and when it is over. There are also parents who record as long as their children are on stage. For students who will be presenting, they are gathered in class to wait for their turn to present. They are also given food when they are finished.
Christmas Celebration
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year” as many people would say and chant on, this Christmas time. Students, teachers and all the facilitators celebrated the birth of Christ on December 8th 2017. Students from Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High up to Senior High presented various and songs, dances and even a play. There were many performances from the student like Choir which was led by Ms. Rida, dance from the Junior High girls, band from Gratia and friends, drama about Jesus Christ from the Senior High, and many else. It was a night to be remembered by all of the people.
Trip to Tribun Pekanbaru
On February 1st 2018, CLE Journalist went to Tribun in Pekanbaru. The reason why we went to the Tribun because we want to know about how to make good articles for our website and want to learn journalistic more detail. One of the manager in Tribun named Mr. Hendra explained us how they produce newspapers, how they create their articles and many more. Not only that, they also show us the place where the newspapers are made. We provide a lot of questions for them to help us improve on our cle project. Tribun was a nice, calm place. The situation in Tribun is quiet, because the workers there are focusing on their work. We weren’t expecting it to be fun during the interview because usually interviews are boring. ButMr. Hendrais actually a fun guy and he knows the way on how to make the situation interesting. We found this trip interesting because it is not as what we expected. We enjoy our trip to Tribun because not only it’s fun, we also get a lot of new knowledges to help us improve on our CLE project.
International Day 2018
International Day! The most wonderful and exciting event which was held by Mutiara Harapan in Hotel Unigraha. On the 28th April 2018, all students, teachers and parents with different nationalities in Mutiara Harapan joined and celebrated the International Day 2018. The event was divided into two separate sessions, 1st and 2nd. The 1st session started at 08:00 until 13:00. This session is for booth presentations by each countries and games for each class. There are 8 booths during the event. There were North America, ASEAN (Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore), China, India, Brazil, South Africa, Scandinavia, and South America. Each class had their own time to visit the booths, like 08:00-11:00 for Primary and 11:00-13:00 for Junior and Senior High School. There were also games for each section. For PYP section, they were mixed to make 8 groups. Their questions are a “True or False” questions. For Junior High School section, each class sent 3 representatives to answer the questions. They have 2 rounds to compete. The 2nd session started at 16:00 until 18:00. This session is for presentations by each country. The session was opened by the Flag Dance from Primary and Junior High School, continued with Flag Parade from each country. After that, each country presents their tradition like Latinas; they present Cueca, Pascuense Dance, and Capoeira. The event was closed with a dance together of Maumere and it was the 1st time that Mutiara Harapan held the event in Hotel Unigraha. It was a wonderful and memorable event.
